Our Story
It still feels surreal to me that at just 19 years old, I have the chance to chase my dream. My name’s Robby, and I’m the founder of Pier Pressure, a brand born from my love of the ocean and the beach lifestyle. While pursuing this dream, I’m also studying general business at SDSU and working two jobs—including one at Ocean Beach Surf & Skate, which is incredibly exciting as they’re about to be the first store to carry my designs.
Clothing wasn’t always part of my vision, but looking back, it’s clear this passion has been growing for years. It started in high school when I created my first brand, Everlong. That summer, I sold 60 shirts to friends and family, which felt amazing, but I wasn’t able to take it further because I wasn’t even 18 yet. Life kept throwing challenges my way—starting college, dealing with a car accident, and even selling my dream truck at a huge loss just to scrape together enough to give this business another shot. But this time, I knew I wanted to create something meaningful, something that really connected with who I am—a beach kid.
While brainstorming names, my dad casually mentioned “Pier Pressure,” a name he dreamed of using for his own beach brand when he was younger. The second he said it, I knew it was perfect. From that moment, I got to work on designs, logos, and building a vision for this brand. I’m all in, even though it’s been a huge financial risk so far. I’ve poured every bit of myself into this because I truly believe in it and in the community it can create.
Why am I so driven? It’s not about trying to get rich or show off. My ultimate goal is to create something for all of us who love the beach—a brand that delivers high-quality, affordable clothing without the insane price tags most companies slap on their gear. I want Pier Pressure to be a brand that feels like home to everyone who shares that same love for the ocean.
Beyond that, this brand is about connection. Someday, I dream of hosting events where we can come together, share good vibes, and give back—whether it’s through free gear or just creating moments that bring people closer. I also want to use this success to support the people who matter most to me, like my little brother. He’s got big dreams of his own, and I want to be able to help him chase those, like playing travel ball without having to worry about the costs.
I know so many of you can relate to having dreams not just for yourself, but for the people you care about. That’s what drives me. If Pier Pressure can help me support my family, connect with this incredible community, and create clothes we all love, then I’ll know I’ve succeeded.
Thank you for being here, for supporting this journey, and for being part of what makes Pier Pressure more than just a brand—it’s all of us, together.
